After enjoying our breakfast, we embarked on our journey towards the Rift Valley, passing through Debre Zeit and the picturesque lakes of Koka and Ziway. For those with an interest in birdwatching, a special stop at Lake Ziway was made, where an incredible array of waterfowl had gathered along the lakeshore. Among the notable species observed were African Pygmy Geese, Yellow-billed Storks, Collared Pratincoles, Lesser and Greater Jacanas, African Jacanas, White Pelicans, Fish Eagles, as well as crowned and common cranes, all in remarkable abundance. Lake Langano provided a safe haven, free from bilharzias and crocodiles, offering visitors the opportunity to take a refreshing swim, stroll along the scenic lake shores, or indulge in birdwatching amidst the surrounding forests.
